De Gea keen to stay at Manchester United under Mourinho

David de Gea is happy to stay at Manchester United next season under Jose Mourinho, according to the MEN.

United endured a lengthy transfer saga with Real Madrid over the future of the Spanish goalkeeper, but it was the Red Devils that kept hold of the 25-year-old by a thread, as the deal with Los Blancos failed to materialise before the end of the Spanish transfer deadline.

Because of this episode with Madrid, De Gea did not to start any of the first six matches under Van Gaal, yet is hoping to get off on the right foot with new manager Mourinho.

One concern for many is that midfielder Juan Mata may leave the club due to Jose’s arrival, as the 53-year-old sold him from Chelsea in 2013. However, despite being close friends with Mata, De Gea is keen to stay at the club and work under Mourinho.

It was reported last week that De Gea would try to push for a transfer if Van Gaal stayed, but the change in management seems to have saved United from losing their player-of-the-year.
