James Rodriguez told he can leave Real Madrid for Manchester United

Manchester United have been told by La Liga giants Real Madrid that they can sign Colombian attacking midfielder James Rodriguez, according to The Mirror.

The 24-year-old failed to get a regular starting role in the team last season, and has been told that he can leave Real for £50m, despite the club signing him for £56m after World Cup 2014.

Reports in Spain have suggested that the player has put his house up for sale in Madrid, adding fuel to the fire of what could be yet another transfer saga for United to be involved in.

Rodriguez shares the same agent, Jorge Mendes, as newly appointed United boss José Mourinho, which could potentially speed up the move.

The Colombian is searching for regular first team football, and United feel as if they can offer him that.

Mourinho has already added to his squad with the signing of £30m centre-back Eric Bailly from Villarreal, and is also looking to sign Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund, with a deal reportedly close to conclusion.
