United complete third academy signing of the summer

Manchester United have completed the signing of Espanyol academy player Arnau Puigmal, with the midfielder confirming the move on Instagram.

United officially agreed terms with Puigmal, 16, in July; however, the official announcement of his move had to be delayed until the Spaniard received international clearance.

The youngster will join Kieran McKenna’s U-18s side.

Speaking about his transfer on Instagram, Puigmal said: “Very happy and proud to announce that I am a new @manchesterunited player, a dream come true. It’s time to work, come on red devils!”

A central midfielder by trade, Puigmal was considered to be the Espanyol academy’s crown-jewel. The Spaniard is confident on the ball, adept at retaining possession, and also has a sharp eye for goal.

Puigmal caught the eye of United scouts at the Mediterranean International Cup where he was named the most valuable player earlier this year.

Puigmal is the third academy player to arrive at United this summer following Aliou Traore who signed from PSG and Di’Shon Bernard who arrived from Chelsea.
