Manchester United remain interested in highly-rated Belgian midfielder

Reports out of Belgium claim that Manchester United remain interested in Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker.

According to Belgian newspaper Het Belang Van Limburg, United manager José Mourinho has been impressed by the 22 year-old and has included the Belgian’s name on the list of transfer targets that he wants to bring to the club.

It is believed that Dendoncker’s camp was in contact with United this summer to discuss a possible transfer to Old Trafford; however, such a move failed to materialise.

United’s Premier League rivals Everton and European big wigs Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were also linked to the talented Belgian this past summer.

A composed defensive midfielder who is very good on the ball, Dendoncker has the potential to be United’s long-term replacement for Michael Carrick who is likely to retire at the end of this season.

After losing Youri Tielemans to Monaco this summer Anderlecht are keen to hold onto the Belgian; however, a offer in the region of £30m for Dendoncker could test the Belgian champions’ resolve.
