Manchester United are weighing up a move to sign Santos midfielder Lucas Lima, according to the player’s agent.

Lima, 27, is set to have his contract with the Brazilian club expire in January and would at that time be free to sign with any club as a free agent.

In an interview with Turkish newspaper Haberturk, Lima’s agent Luccas Badia claimed that the Premier League giants are one of the multiple clubs interested in signing the player.

“Inter, Roma and Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Lucas, Manchester United want him.” Badia told the newspaper.

“I think we would be well suited to the Serie A but we will see.”

“His contract ends on 31 December and there are many clubs interested but I am not sure what Santos is trying to do,” continued Badia.

Badia also confirmed reports that Santos received two bids for Lima in the summer.

“Crystal Palace made a €15 million offer while Fenerbahce made a €20 million bid but for some reason neither has been accepted.”

Lima is described as a technical playmaker with good set-piece ability and could represent an astute mid-season addition for United manager José Mourinho as the Portuguese chases his first Premier League title with the Manchester club.
