According to Calciomercato, Manchester United have entered the race to sign Genoa striker Pietro Pellegri.

Pellegri, 16, burst onto the scene last season after making his Serie A debut at the age of 15. The teenager also became the first player born in 2001 to score in the Italian top-flight after finding the back of the net against Roma in May.

It is believed that the Manchester club’s Premier League rivals Chelsea, and Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan are also interested in the player, with the latter two clubs already having made contact with the striker’s agent to discuss a possible move.

Inter Milan had a verbal agreement in place to sign Pellegri this past summer; however, the deal fell apart at the last stage when Inter’s Chinese ownership demanded that sales be made before the board went about buying any players.

The Genoa academy product has gotten off to a hot start this season after scoring twice against Lazio on the weekend.
