Manchester United have been warned that they will need to pay up if they want to sign Sarpsborg midfielder Krepin Diatta.

Reports resurfaced this week that Manchester United continue to monitor Diatta, 18, with United scouts watching the player in action against Norwegian club Odd on Monday.

The teenager told Norwegian broadcaster TV 2 after Monday’s match that, “to join them [United] would be a dream come true.”

Known for his pace, strength, and high-level athletic ability, Diatta is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young players.

In response to the interest that the Senegal-born player is receiving, Sarpsborg sporting director Thomas Berntsen said he hopes that the Norwegian club can keep a hold of Diatta until atleast the summer.

“What I can say is that there are many big clubs that follow Diatta,” Berntsen told TV 2.

“It’s a bit uncertain, but there is even greater activity in the summer window than in January. So maybe we can keep him to the summer.”

“The clubs looking at him are clubs with big wallets. He will cost a lot of money, there’s no doubt about it,” Berntsen continued.
