Manchester United have issued a hands off warning to Arsenal, following their pursuit of French international Anthony Martial. The 21-year-old has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, but reports today have revealed that Martial is happy at the club and will certainly not be departing for Arsenal.
This will be music to the ears of United fans, particularly following Martial’s blistering start to the season, in which he has already registered 5 goals and 5 assists in all competitions. Despite this emphatic start, speculation regarding Martial’s uncertain future did arise following the fact that he has only started four games this season, something that hasn’t gone down too well with the majority of the fan-base. Reports had stated that Martial was unhappy with the amount of game time that he was receiving and that league rivals Arsenal had been exploring the possibility of signing the Frenchman.
These rumours have however been put to bed quickly, with the Daily Star reporting that United would never sell the winger to Arsenal. They quote an inside source in saying,
“Arsenal have no chance of getting Anthony Martial. He is happy at the club and even if he did want to leave, he wouldn’t be sold to Arsenal.”
The speculation regarding Martial’s proposed move to Arsenal was always treated as gossip from fans, as the two clubs rarely ever share transfer business together. However, fans have reiterated their concerns over Martial’s lack of starts, especially with the current form that he is in. With Anfield looming on Saturday, it will be interesting to see whether Jose Mourinho starts Martial over Marcus Rashford, or perhaps even play the two together. Regardless of this, the club are certainly not looking to offload Martial and the player seems happy to stay, for the time being.
