Manchester United chasing Spain U21 midfielder

The January transfer window is fast approaching, and Manchester United are back in the rumour mill. The most recent player linked to the Red Devils is Carlos Soler, however, United are looking to get a deal over the line ahead of next summer’s window.

The young Spanish midfielder is currently playing for La Liga side Valencia. He has become an integral part of the first team this season, and his impressive performances have the club up to 2nd in the league, ahead of both Madrid teams.

Although Valencia have started this season well, they have struggled in recent years. This has lead to financial struggles, forcing the club to sell some key players.

Soler has a buyout clause of £75 million, but United are confident they can get him for much less than that. Reports from the Daily Mail say that United are trying to get a deal done for roughly £30 million.

The signing would be a smart one, as the club are lacking a creative central midfielder to backup Paul Pogba. Ander Herrera has come into the team during Pogba’s injury, but he is much more of a defensive kind of player, hurting United’s ability to go forward.

By signing Soler, the club would have better cover in that position, and have another option off the bench to bring on against a team parking the bus.
