Whilst the international break can offer as rather a drab period for Premier League fans, it appears to have been the perfect little escape for Romelu Lukaku, who scored twice during Belgium’s 3-3 draw with Mexico.

The 24 year old arrived at Old Trafford during the summer for a hefty fee of £75m, a price that was quickly forgotten after his explosive start of seven goals in seven League games. Since then however, Lukaku has endured a bit of a dry spell, having failed to score in his last seven games, with Manchester United’s performances having equally faltered.

Last night however provided as easy watching for United fans, seeing Lukaku finally getting back on the score-sheet, one being a rather scruffy finish and the other an easy tap in, one that provided as a crucial equaliser in a rather thrilling game.

As mentioned, after a run of seven games without a goal, Lukaku will certainly take them however they come and will be aiming to take this form into United’s next fixture at home against Newcastle.

Defeat against Chelsea left United eight points behind neighbours Manchester City and will need to recapture maximum points week in week out, if they want to be holding the Premier League trophy come the end of the season.

Lukaku’s goals will certainly provide as an effective factor behind this and the news regarding a Paul Pogba return may be the boost that the big Belgian needs.

However, as a player whose confidence correlates with his goal-scoring, the return of Lukaku’s goals in a United shirt will hopefully be just around the corner, fans will just be hoping that this return comes sooner rather than later.
