According to the latest reports from RMC in France, Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is not close to a contract renewal at the club, despite talks stemming back to December last year.

United still have the option to extend the 22-year-old’s contract, which ends in 2019, yet the club were expected to send an offer to renew last year. RMC state that contract discussions between club and player are at a ‘standstill.’

The French outlet say that Martial is ‘astonished’ by the lack of offer from United, and feels ‘a lack of recognition’ from the Red Devils.

The 22-year-old is a fan favourite at Old Trafford, and with the best years of his career to come, Martial leaving so soon would be nothing short of a disaster, especially if it were to a Premier League rival. And, according to the report, Tottenham are said to be ‘courting’ the United forward, ahead of a potential move.

United have time to extend Martial’s contract, yet the fans would prefer it to be wrapped up sooner rather than later, as the prospect of losing one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers is a scary one.
