Possible team: Southampton – Manchester United

After last weeks defeat at home to Crystal Palace, Manchester United travel to the coast for a showdown with Southampton, who collected their first win of the season after beating Brighton 2-0 at The Amex.

Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial were on Friday ruled out by the manager with the latter expected to be available for Leicester’s Old Trafford visit after the international break.

Goalkeeper: David de Gea
Despite his error last week, this is an easy choice for Ole.

Right-back: Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Didn’t have his best of games against his former club last week but still solid.

Centre-half: Victor Lindelöf
A rare mistake last week but normal service should be restored.

Centre-half: Harry Maguire
Needs to turn his good-gone-bad start around.

Left-back: Ashley Young
Ethan Laird, Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot are all injured. Last resort.

Defensive midfield: Scott McTominay
McTominay had a poor game against Palace but will Ole give Matic a chance? Probably not.

Defensive midfield: Paul Pogba
Easy choice.

Left wing: Daniel James
Two goals in three games now for the winger. A good start to his Manchester United career.

Attacking midfield: Juan Mata
Will Solskjaer put Lingard on the bench? Hopefully. Juan Mata deserves to be given a chance.

Right wing: Mason Greenwood
With Anthony Martial out injured, Southampton could be the perfect game for Mason Greenwood to break into the starting eleven.

Striker: Marcus Rashford
Needs to step up now. Apart from two goals against Chelsea, Rashford’s barely had a sniff at goal this season. He must put the penalty miss behind him and start firing.

BENCH
Sergio Romero
Nemanja Matic
Axel Tuanzebe
Jesse Lingard
