Eric Bailly set for United contract extension

Eric Bailly has never really kicked on at United. The Ivorian made a sparkling start to his Manchester United career but injuries soon took over and have for a couple of years now plagued a career which hoped to be a promising one.

The defenders talent is undeniable but his inability to string together a run of games in the first team for the past three seasons has made it hard for the former Villareal man to make a name for himself as an undisputed starter in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team and Jose Mourinho’s before that.

Despite this, reports claim that Manchester United have triggered a two-year extension clause in his contract, keeping him at the club until 2022. Bailly’s contract was due to expire this summer but that looks not to be the case now according to ESPN.

Whether this is merely a ploy to get as much money as possible for him in the summer remains to be seen, although many United fans would like him to get a final chance at Old Trafford.
