Manchester Evening News have compiled a small report on the rise of Axel Tuanzebe and what it could mean for José Mourinho’s summer transfer plans. The report suggests that Manchester United were keen on signing Victor Lindelof of Benfica and Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez before Marcos Rojo’s unfortunate injury. They go on to say that United are now courting Marquinhos (PSG).
Mourinho may choose to use his relationship with Jorge Mendes to sign Aymeric Laporte or use his own relationship with Raphael Varane.
Manchester United have also scouted an heir to Antonio Valencia, but that idea could be delayed a year if Mourinho perseveres with young Axel Tuanzebe at right-back.
MEN go on to put together a list of United’s possible defensive options for the 2017/18 season.
Right-backs: Antonio Valencia, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Axel Tuanzebe
Centre-backs: Marquinhos, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Daley Blind
Left-backs: Benjamin Mendy, Matteo Darmian, Kieran Tierney
