Wayne Rooney set to leave Manchester United for Everton

It seems like an era is coming to an end in Manchester. Wayne Rooney is set to leave Manchester United, and sign for his boyhood club Everton. According to Neil Custis, the United legend is set to leave the club after 13 seasons in Manchester. His accomplishments are vast. He’s won the Champions League, the FA Cup, and the Europa League with the club. He also has 5 Premier League Winners medals, and won the League Cup on 4 occasions with the Red Devils.

The past season had been a tough one for the Englishman. He begun the season as a starter, but was reduced to a bit part player as the year went on. He broke the clubs record for goals scored, with the record breaking 250th coming from a wonderful free kick in the final minutes vs Stoke City. He added another 3 before the end of the season to bring his United total to 253. He also was able to lift 3 more trophies, adding a Community Shield, EFL Cup, and Europa League to his trophy cabinet.

Some fans might’ve turned on Rooney near the end of his time at the club, but all must appreciate everything he has accomplished with United. He is the top scorer in the history of the Manchester Derby, and no fan will ever forget his bicycle kick winner in 2011. United supporters will be rooting for him and hope Wayne does well in any of his future endeavors. Everton travel to Old Trafford on September 16th, which will be a very emotional day for everyone.
