According to various reports from the Mirror and Sport, Manchester United have opened up contract talks with Spanish star Ander Herrera.
Ander Herrera arrived from Athletic Bilbao for £30 million in the summer of 2014 and was the first signing of the Louis Van Gaal era. Herrera has been a key figure in midfield this season under Jose Mourinho, occupying a more defensive role compared to previous seasons.
Due to this fine form, Herrera has been linked with a return to Spain with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid the biggest club pursuing him but the club plan to reward him with a bumper new deal to fend off any interest other clubs may have.
The reported contract that will be offered to him set to increase his wages by a further £50,000-a-week meaning he will then start to earn around £150,000-a-week, it would be a four-year deal, which would mean the Spanish midfielder would be tied down to the club until 2021 with an option of an extra year with the club.
