Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is set to exit the club in the new year, according to the Mirror.

The English paper believe that Turkish side Besiktas have reached an agreement with United that will see the Belgian international move to Istanbul for a fee of £8million in January – six months before his current contract is set to expire.

United’s winter transfer business will not stop there with the Mirror reporting that Jose Mourinho is shortlisting a number of midfielders to replace Fellaini at United.

One of the names being bandied around is Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred.

Fred, 24, is enjoying another very good season at the Ukrainian club and is attracting interest from several European clubs, including Spanish side Valencia, despite signing a new long-term contract at Shakhtar only this past summer.

The Brazilian international is a tidy passer and offers a solid defensive presence in the centre of the park. Fred’s all-round midfield game should allow him to gel well with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic in United’s midfield if Mourinho were to be successful in his pursuit of the midfielder.
