Jose Mourinho does not want Scott McTominay to leave Manchester United on loan during the upcoming January transfer window and is prepared to block any offers that come his away, according to reports today in the Metro.

The twenty-year-old midfielder is certainly regarded highly of within Manchester United and Mourinho certainly remains a keen fan of the Englishman, who has appeared four times across all competitions this season. Standing at 6”4 and operating as more of a defensive midfielder, McTominay looks a player that acquires all the right attributes to flourish under Mourinho and the careful man management of the young player so far, suggests that he is considered to be an integral part of United’s system in the long run.

Although the Englishman is yet to feature in the Premier League this season, it is clear that McTominay is a player that holds his manager’s trust, after starting games in the Champions League and Carabao cup this season. It is certainly worth mentioning that in both of McTominay’s starts United have won each game 2-0, with the twenty-year-old offering a solid and mature display in each fixture, particularly when it comes to his defensive duties.

In what has been a season where United have suffered injury after injury, particularly in the central midfield area, it is certainly a reassuring sign to have a younger yet reliable option, ready to step in when called upon. The news regarding Mourinho wanting to block any loan offers for McTominay certainly highlights the manager’s admiration of the player and does suggest that we will see more of the young Englishman, as the season wares on.
