Danny Simpson backs James Maddison to join Manchester United

James Maddison excelled in his first year in the Premier League last term, despite his club having a difficult time.

The former Norwich midfielder joined Leicester last year and already looks like he could be leaving the Midlands club soon. Maddison scored 7 and assisted another 7 last season but will most likely top that this term, having already provided two assists in just three games.

Danny Simpson, former Red and teammates with Maddison last season, has backed the creative midfielder to join Manchester United.

Quizzed on whether the Leicester midfielder should make the transfer, he said “Yeah. He, for me, is world class.

“I think people are speaking right now but honestly I think for an English player as well, honestly he’s world class and he’s only going to get better and better. ‘He’s that good, honestly. Honestly, he’s got it all.

“He’s quick in his mind so I think he doesn’t need to have blistering pace running past people because he’s clever and he thinks before everyone else.

‘He gets in them little pockets, gets into the right spaces, he’s kind of got eyes in the back of his head.

“So he doesn’t have to be your typical “I’m going to run past you and beat you” because his qualities are there with his vision and his passing.”

Manchester United are crying out for a creative midfielder with Jesse Lingard leaving a lot to wish for and Juan Mata not being able to do it anymore. James Maddison would be a great addition to the United squad but should an approach be made, Ed Woodward can count on the same kind of stubborness shown by Leicester in Harry Maguire negotiations.
