Transfer Latest: Bruno Fernandes, Boubakary Soumaré, Edinson Cavani

As a new week begins, old rumours continue to flood the internet. Some are true, most are false. The transfer window is coming to its end but the rumours will most likely never stop.

Manchester United’s injury crisis keeps getting worse and worse with key figures of the United squad dropping like flies. Anthony Martial missed 2 months with a hamstring injury, Paul Pogba has missed 4 months through two different ankle injuries as well as illness and Scott McTominay has missed the best part of two months with first an ankle injury and now a knee injury. So, surely United must do business this month? We bring you the latest.

Bruno Fernandes
Sunday’s news on Bruno Fernandes was that although Sporting and United remain some way apart in the valuation of the player, there is willingness to complete the deal and talks will resume this week.

The Portugal international is in Sporting’s squad to face Braga on Tuesday but has expressed his desire to join Manchester United, according to Sky Sports.

Sky claim that Fernandes is ‘desperate to join’ after extensive negotiations between the two clubs and were told to “expect anything”.

Boubakary Soumaré
The Lille midfielder wasn’t a starter last season but has made a breakthrough in his career this term. The Frenchman, who is also eligible to represent Senegal, is the subject of interest from several English clubs as well as top European clubs.

Sky Sports claimed that Soumaré will choose between Manchester United and Chelsea before the deadline on the 31st of this month but the player himself has categorically ruled himself out of a move out of France.

“A departure is not on the cards. I feel good here,” he says in an interview with L’Equipe. Short and sweet and it should put the rumours to bed. However, weirder things have happened.

Edinson Cavani
Manchester United are ‘on red alert’ after Edinson Cavani hands in transfer request is the headline of The Mirror on Monday.

Leonardo, PSG sporting director, confirmed on Sunday that the striker has told Paris Saint-Germain that he wishes to leave the club this window and Manchester United are reportedly interested.

A fresh injury blow to Rashford might force United’s hand and sign a striker this month but whether it’s one who turns 33 next month is questionable. The forward is out of contract is 6 months and is free to talk to clubs over a free transfer.
