After back-to-back defeats to Liverpool and then Burnley, Manchester United fans will be hoping for good news in the transfer market at least. It seems like everyday there are conflicting reports from all over Europe but the English media have stayed pretty consistent in what they’re saying.

The latest report is from BBC’s Simon Stone who is speaking in regards to Jorge Mendes’ comments on the transfer.

The Portuguese super-agent confirmed that Sporting are in talks with clubs but that is hardly a secret.

“I don’t know (if he will join United this window),” Mendes said.

“If he doesn’t leave now, for sure he will in the summer. Sporting are already in talks with other clubs. Something will happen but I don’t know if it’s now or in the summer.”

It’s a damning read for United fans which many of though a deal for Fernandes was already wrapped up.

Simon Stone says that it is ‘all sides are in agreement’ over that a deal for Bruno Fernandes will not be agreed as things stand. Ultimately it is the gap in player valuation holding up the deal.
