Only had the one save to make and had a comfortable evening.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 9
Good defensively and provided a great assist for Martial’s opener after spinning Willian. Stopped a certain goal Pedro with a tackle.
Eric Bailly: 9
First start of the season for Bailly and looked shaky in the first couple of minutes but got past it quickly. Absolutely colossal in the second half and saved a certain goal with an incredible recovery tackle on Kovacic.
Harry Maguire: 9
Perhaps lucky to stay on the pitch but just like Bailly, absolutely colossal. Fantastic goal.
Luke Shaw: 8
Didn’t put a foot wrong. Looks like United’s most comfortable player when it comes to playing out from the back.
Brandon Williams: 7
Lost a lot of balls in the first half but stayed with his man and did well in his duels.
Nemanja Matic: 7
None of Chelsea’s half-chances came through the middle and Nemanja Matic was a big reason for that. Good performance on his comeback from suspension.
Fred: 9
It’s not longer a question of improvement from Fred – he’s constantly putting in good performances now.
Bruno Fernandes: 9
You can just tell that he’s just a bit better than the other United players. Almost scored his first goal when he struck the post with a smart free-kick but instead assisted the second goal with a fantastic corner.
Daniel James: 8
Never stopped working and although the final product wasn’t there he did United the world of good with that display. His work-rate is one of the reasons Chelsea failed to produce a lot of chances down the flank.
Anthony Martial: 7
Looked off it for most of the game but what impressive technique to first beat Christensen to the ball and then glance it towards the far post.
