Di Maria’s wife: ‘skinny and weird’ people made time in Manchester ‘shitty’

Ángel di Maria’s stay in Manchester only lasted just under a year and although it started off very well, things took a sour turn rather quickly.

The turning point in Di Maria’s United career was a hamstring injury in October against Hull. The winger failed to win his place back upon his return and according to reports, the Rosario-born midfielder and his family were struggling to cope with the culture and climate differences to those in Spain and South America.

His house being broken into followed as well as a feud with Louis van Gaal. His wife, Jorgelina, says that she had asked Di Maria not to join an English club prior to his move to United.

“I begged Angel, any place but England,” she confirms.

“And one year later we were in Manchester, s***.”

“I didn’t like anything at all. The people were all skinny, neat, weird. You are walking and you don’t know if they are going to kill you or not.”

“The food is disgusting. The girls all use a lot of make up, like they are dolls.”
