Europa League and Champions League set to restart and finish in August

With many football leagues either already back in business or close to resuming, plans for seeing out cup competitions are also beginning to surface.

Having already learned the date of their FA Cup quarter-final rendezvous with Norwich (June 27), Reds fans can now also look forward to an announcement of their Europa League fate in the near future.

As per RMC’s Mohamed Bouhafsi, the initial plans about to be put in motion are to see out the end of both European competitions following the conclusion of domestic league action.

The Europa League final is reportedly set to be scheduled for August 21 with the Champions League finale to take place on August 23. The venue preference for both is Lisbon and with Frankfurt acting as a back up.

It is still unclear as to when the earlier knockout stages of the Europa League will take place but what we do know is that the quarter and semi-final matches will be decided in one leg. The reported restart date for the Champions League is August 3.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are all but through into the last eight following the 5-0 away demolition of LASK in the final match before the hiatus and are sure to be eagerly awaiting the unveiling of the next obstacle on their way to a second Europa League trophy in four years.
