Manchester United receive Premier League and Women’s Super League award nominations

Manchester United have today received nominations for a host of individual awards in the Premier League and Women’s Super League.

Men’s first-team players Bruno Fernandes and Anthony Martial are up for the same two awards, while senior managers Casey Stoney and Ole Gunnar Solskjær have received nominations for a season and monthly prize respectively.

Fernandes and Martial are both up EA Sports’ Player of the Month for June and each have strikes up for Budweiser’s Goal of the Month.

The Portuguese’s fine finish of counter-attack against Brighton on Tuesday has been recognised, along with his French teammates’ hat-trick-sealing goal against Sheffield United.

Meanwhile, men’s manager Solskjær has been nominated for Manager of the Month and women’s boss Stoney sees her solid second term at the helm put up for Barclays Manager of the Season.

Solskjær is facing off with Steve Bruce, Frank Lampard, and Nuno Espírito Santo and like the player vote, incorporates March’s pre-lockdown performances.

38-year-old Stoney, on the other hand, is pitted against cross-city rival Nick Cushing, Chelsea’s Emma Hayes, Everton’s Willie Kirk, and Tottenham Hotspur pair Karen Hills and Juan Amoros for the grand annual prize.

The league was finished on a points-per-game basis, as United finished their maiden top-flight campaign in a very commendable 4th place.

Voting for all of the male awards closed at 18:00 on Monday, July 6, six hours after voting for Stoney closes at noon.
