Aaron Wan-Bissaka believes Manchester United can close gap on Liverpool

Aaron Wan-Bissaka believes that Manchester United can close the gap on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League next season.

The Red Devils have been in fine form since the turn of the new year, boasting an unbeaten record across their last seventeen fixtures. Since Project Restart, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have picked up the most points in the division, registering fifteen goals in just five games.

It’s not only results that have improved either, but the performances too. United are now operating with a distinct and organised attacking gameplan, with the majority of players now possessing an understanding of their role in the squad.

Such progression has inevitably sparked excitement amongst the Old Trafford faithful, with a number of whispers doing the rounds about a potential title charge next season. Although such wishes may seem a little premature, there can be no denying that the gap at the top will begin to close.

Wan-Bissaka addressed this topic with GQ, who asked the defender whether United could catch their rivals up: “As a team, I think we are only heading in one direction and taking each game as it comes. So if we can keep performing and make a positive start to the season, I don’t see why not.”

This reference to ‘heading in one direction’ is certainly important, as year one of Ole’s project was all about putting building blocks in place, to begin the mass rebuilding job at hand. A philosophy has been integrated onto the side, who are all working towards one collective ideology.

Such organisation has benefited the club as a whole, and Wan-Bissaka’s words about closing the gap on Liverpool are not a far-fetched dream, but instead, a realistic outlook on the club’s recent progression.
