Paris Saint-Germain interested in Diogo Dalot

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing Diogo Dalot this summer, according to Portuguese news outlet O Jogo.

The 21-year-old is seemingly surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not trusting the defender. Dalot missed the first half of the season through injury, but has struggled to make an impact since returning to full-fitness.

Out of the last 12 Premier League match-days, the right-back has failed to feature in a single minute. Last summer signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka is clearly favoured ahead of him, with Brandon Williams also emerging as an option further up the pecking order.

Dalot’s future was all but confirmed against Crystal Palace away though, when Timothy Fosu-Mensah started ahead of him. It was the Dutchman’s first appearance for United in over three years.

Solskjaer’s reluctance to use the youngster has inevitably sparked transfer rumours surrounding his future. O Jogo claim that Dalot is set to leave the club this summer, with PSG interested in his services.

The French side predominantly use Thilo Kehrer in that right-back spot, but the German is more comfortable in the middle. Their interest in Dalot would be justified from this perspective, and the player could achieve success in a less-demanding league.

Dalot’s biggest strength lies with his attacking ability and his eagerness to get down the channel with the ball at his feet. Such a skillset would be played on more in France, and not to mention that he would be required to defend much-less in the dominating PSG team.
