Newcastle United interested in Brandon Williams loan move

Newcastle United are monitoring Manchester United’s Brandon Williams ahead of a potential loan move in January, according to the Chronicle Live.

The above report claims that the full-back is ‘likely’ to be made available for a loan, after falling down the pecking order this season. Summer signing Alex Telles has impressed early on, with Luke Shaw finding form before his injury too.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is one of the first names on the team-sheet, leaving Williams’ first-team opportunities limited. The latter has featured just once in the Premier League, with his only two starts coming in the EFL Cup.

The Chronicle Live claim that an offer from the Magpies is likely to be taken seriously, with Steve Bruce holding a good relationship with both Mike Phelan and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Newcastle sit 13th in the table after ten games played, eight points above the relegation zone. They may need reinforcements to go the distance this season though, as their squad is not blessed with quality in depth.

Williams could well provide in this department, acting as a potential upgrade on Javier Manquillo. There’s seemingly no openings into United’s first-team at present, and this certainly looks to be a story worth following.

Southampton have also recently been linked with a loan move for the youngster.
