Scott McTominay has slowly but surely become a regular at Manchester United after vouches from Sir Alex Ferguson and José Mourinho.
His tenacious style has won over more than just one manager since he joined United’s academy and the Scotland international has showered fellow midfielder Paul Pogba with praise.
McTominay and Pogba are both academy graduates at Manchester United and although the Frenchman spent four years away from the club in a stint at Juventus, his comeback was welcomed.
“I remember when he was at Juventus and I was in the reserves at United and I was like ‘this guy is ridiculous’,” he told Pro:Direct Soccer.
Pogba is often the main target in criticism from media and the suggestion that a lot of it is unfair is fairly accurate, which McTominay backs.
“People don’t know him,” he said. “People don’t know him for who he is and he’s very misunderstood in my opinion. For the way his personality is and what he brings to the team.
“Obviously he can have a bad game, everyone can have a bad game but because it’s Paul Pogba it’s magnified to a different level.
“When he plays well he’s up there with the very best. Top class.”
