Predicted teams: Manchester United vs Manchester City

Manchester United will be looking to continue their fine domestic form after a disappointing night in the Champions League. The Reds crashed out of the competition after Tuesdays 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig.

Solskjær’s side have won their last four Premier League games, beating a long-standing record of consecutive away wins whilst doing so, and have been given a boost with the news that Anthony Martial is set to return to the squad.

The Frenchman was substituted at half-time of the 3-1 victory over West Ham last week and missed United’s trip to Germany but will be involved in the derby.

“Anthony (Martial) will definitely be involved,” Solskjær said before confirming that Edinson Cavani is a doubt. “He’s (Cavani) is back on grass but I’ll have to make a late decision on that.”

Dean Henderson has featured in United’s last two league games and another error by De Gea in the Champions League has put him back in the running but Solskjær is not expected to drop his number one for the visit of Guardiola’s side.

Fred is expected to be drafted back into the team, having made some of his most impressive performances against just Manchester City. Paul Pogba’s introduction rejuvenated United in Germany but the Frenchman is more or less useless against sides who dominate possession.

For the visitors, Eric Garcia and Ilkay Gundogan will be assessed before deciding whether they are fit enough to feature.

Manchester United (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelöf, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Fred; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial

Manchester City (4-3-3): Ederson; Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo; Rodri, Gundogan, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling
