Luke Shaw, Paul Pogba and Victor Lindelöf all missed Saturdays 1-0 win over Watford in the FA Cup in what looked like, at first glance, an opportunity for the trio to rest having recovered from muscle, ankle and back injuries respectively.
Luke Shaw missed a month late in 2020, Paul Pogba has had a bothersome ankle for the better part of 18 months now and Victor Lindelöf has struggled with a back injury since last season.
Lindelöf returned to the side against Manchester City last week after a short spell on the sidelines.
“I hope so,” Ole said when quizzed on whether the trio could return this week. “I hope all of them for Liverpool anyway.”
“I’m not sure if they’ll make the Burnley one, but we have light training tomorrow [Sunday] and we’ll see on Monday.”
Sean Dyche’s Burnley are up next for Solskjær’s side – the Clarets have a fantastic record at Old Trafford. Their latest visit to the Theatre of Dreams saw them take home all three points, making it four unbeaten there.
United haven’t beaten Burnley at Old Trafford since 2015 but there’s an added incentive this time. The Reds could go three points clear at the top of the table with win before facing Liverpool.
