Can Man Utd Really Sign Harry Kane?

Should he stay, or should he go? It has been the question asked of Harry Kane for some time now, but the summer of 2023 may finally be the time that the England captain leaves his beloved Tottenham Hotspur.

After a dismal season at Spurs, no one could blame Kane for leaving, particularly as the club has failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League. Despite the poor performances of his team, Kane, as per usual, has had a stellar season in front of goal, registering 30 goals, a total surpassed only by the record-breaking Erling Haaland.

Will United Make Their Move?

Despite what has to be considered a successful season, one thing that United lacked was a number nine with the potential to score a bag full of goals. As with most of the top clubs around Europe, Kane would be a perfect fit for United. With the club seemingly now back on an upward curve and currently being 11/1 in online football betting to win the league next season, Old Trafford could be the ideal place for Kane to hang his hat at this stage of his career.

It is thought that United are positioning themselves to make a solid move for Kane quite early in the transfer window, with the likely price tag of £100 million not putting anyone at Old Trafford off. Of course, as has been the case many times in the past, dealing with Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy is not the easiest of tasks, so it might be worth getting negotiations going early.

Levy has already stated that he is not willing to let Kane move to a Premier League rival this summer, despite him having just one year to run on his contract. It is hard to see the Spurs supremo letting his main asset leave for free next year, however, so it is money that will have to do all of the talking for a move to materialize.

If Not United, Then Who?

So, who else other than United will be keen on Kane, or who can afford to cough up the big fee that it will take for Levy to let him leave?

Bayern Munich

If Levy does dig his heels in over selling Kane to a Premier League rival, then the next port of call may come from Germany. Bayern secured another title in dramatic fashion at the end of the Bundesliga campaign, and they are another team that are on the search for a new goal-getting machine to join their ranks.

The sale of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona left Bayern short up-front last season, and Kane is seen as a perfect replacement for the Polish international.

Chelsea

Another Premier League team that will be interested this summer is Chelsea. For all the money that the club have spent in recent times, they are still lacking a striker of the calibre of Kane. It would be a surprise were he to make the move to Stamford Bridge given the current state of the team, but if his old boss Pochettino were to take over The Blues, then things could get interesting.

With the likes of Real Madrid and even Newcastle said to also be interested, it promises to be a summer full of mystery when it comes to the England captain’s next move.
