Manchester United Reveals Five New Squad Numbers

Manchester United revealed the five new squad numbers. The team is also preparing its roster to deliver better performance next season.

As the 2023/2024 season approaches through the Premier League, Manchester United has just released five new squad numbers. Five players wearing the new numbers are Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Ganarcho, Jonny Evans, Sergio Reguilon, and Altay Bayindir. These numbers were previously worn by players who had departed from the Old Trafford club.

Hojlund, who made headlines a few months ago due to his £72m signing with the club, will wear the No. 11 shirt. This famous No. 11 shirt has been worn by other past stars, such as Mason Greenwood, Ryan Giggs, George Best, Sir Bobby Charlton, Anthony Martial, and Adnan Januzaj.

Ganarcho previously wore the No. 49. However, due to the departure of Fred Rodrigues back in August, Ganarcho will wear shirt No. 17. Other past Manchester United members who have worn the same shirts include Daley Blind, Nani, Henrik Larsson, Liam Miller, and more.

Evans will wear shirt No. 35, the very same number he wore during his academy days 16 years ago. Meanwhile, Reguilon will wear shirt No. 15, which Marcel Sabitzer also wore. Fun fact, Reguilon has just arrived on loan from Tottenham, while Sabitzer wore shirt No. 15 during his loan for the second half of the last season.

Lastly, Bayindir, the goalkeeper, will wear the No. 1 shirt, like the past Manchester United goalkeepers such as David De Gea, Peter Schmeichel, and Edwin van der Sar. Meanwhile, the other goalkeeper, Andre Onana, plays with the shirt No. 24.

Quartet’s Outstanding Performances

In the previous club, Atalanta BC, Hojlund showed fantastic skill. During Serie A season 2022-23, he scored nine goals out of 32 matches. He also scored 1 goal in the two matches during the Coppa Italia.

Just like Hojlund, Ganarcho is also a promising young player. During the 2022-23 Premier League, Ganarcho successfully scored three goals in 19 matches. Moreover, he scored a goal in six matches during the previous Europa League season.

Reguilon scored two goals in 25 matches during the Premier League season 2021-2022. Lastly, Bayindir has also played in 26 matches during the 2022-23 season, making him a promising young player.

Preparing for the New Season

Manchester United is levelling up their game like any other club that works hard to prepare for the new season. There are at least five things in their to-do list. First, manager Ten Hag claimed to have learned the team’s weaknesses.

He also realised that some of his playing styles from the previous season did not work out with the team. Hag revealed that the team is trying to adopt a new playing style while the players are getting used to his system.

Second, the Red Devil has replaced their goalkeeper, David de Gea, with Onana. De Gea was once the world’s best goalkeeper, but now it is time for a regeneration. With Onana joining the squad, the club is thrilled to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The club has just signed a contract with Mason Mount from Chelsea. Mount is expected to strengthen the midfield along with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, who played fantastically during the previous season.

It signed Hojlund, hoping to have a better striker on the team. Lastly, many expect that not having Cristiano Ronaldo in the team will lift the team’s gameplay. Hag does not have to deal with the Ronaldo drama anymore, meaning it will be easier for him to lead the team.

Along with Manchester United’s endless effort preparation, the fans are currently anticipating the Premier League as well as putting a bet on Manchester United. When the 2023-24 season starts, they are hoping to see the team giving their best after the previous loss.
