‘Devastating’ World Cup omission leaves PL star ‘considering his future’ amid Man United interest

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - MARCH 15: Michael Carrick, Manager of Manchester United, looks on during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Aston Villa at Old Trafford on March 15, 2026 in Manchester, England.

Lewis Hall is said to be ‘considering his future’ at Newcastle United after being left out of England’s World Cup squad.

The coveted full-back is reportedly ‘devastated’ by Thomas Tuchel’s decision to omit him from the travelling group, as per Sam C.

In turn, it could pave the way for Manchester United to materialise their interest in Hall.

The 21-year-old has been on INEOS’ shortlist for several weeks now as they prepare for a major summer overhaul in M16.

Lining up an eventual successor to Luke Shaw is thought to be in United’s plans; even though the 30-year-old completed a full campaign of Premier League starts in 2025/2026, his injury record since joining the Reds in 2014 leaves much to be desired.

Add that to the fact that Michael Carrick’s side will be making their return to the Champions League next term, and it goes without saying that depth across the team is imperative.

Who else could sign along with Hall?

As well as Hall, United continue to be linked with a host of midfielders, which is INEOS’ priority in the lead-up to the window opening.

It’s looking increasingly likely that Ederson will be the first name through the door in the coming weeks, with all aspects of the deal with Atalanta now only waiting for both parties to cross the ts and dot the is.

United will then turn their attention to other targets, such as Mateus Fernandes, Carlos Baleba and Sandro Tonali, all of whom boast ample Premier League experience.
