Aurelien Tchouameni has been considered ‘one to watch’ for Manchester United this summer amid growing Real Madrid uncertainty.

The European goliaths are having to undergo a drastic shake-up after overseeing back-to-back trophyless seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Aurelien Tchouameni: The state of play

Their rebuild is poised to begin with none other than Jose Mourinho returning to take the reins in Madrid, as long as Florentino Perez reigns victorious in Sunday’s presidential election.

From there, transfer action can really start commencing, and some players might find themselves deemed surplus to requirements following the side’s dismal campaign.

Perez is keen to keep hold of Tchouameni, who joined Los Blancos from AS Monaco in an £85 million deal in 2022. However, some parties in Spain, according to Manchester Evening News, believe the situation is ‘not completely closed’.

It would perhaps take a lucrative proposal to try to sway Madrid towards facilitating his exit, knowing that the 26-year-old is about to enter the penultimate season of his contract.

United holding out hope for Tchouameni

Tchouameni has been deemed something of a dream target for United as they themselves continue drawing up plans for a summer overhaul.

It’s anticipated that Casemiro’s departure will call for at least two midfield signings to be made to replace the seasoned veteran, with one already secured in the form of Atalanta’s Ederson.

However, any potential approach for Tchouameni will likely have to wait until France have finished their World Cup campaign, which may be at the very final stages of the tournament, given how they’ve fared in the last two instalements.
