Manchester United and Manuel Ugarte have agreed to part ways in the summer, with neither party happy with the current situation.
The Red Devils are currently ringing the changes in the middle of the park. Casemiro has already bid everyone at the club farewell after a spectacular campaign on a personal level, while his compatriot, Ederson, is finalising a £39 million move from Atalanta.
Man Utd are also expected to recruit another two new midfielders, with Ugarte likely to make way.
Manuel Ugarte is eager to leave Man Utd
While answering the questions of Man Utd fans on Roundtable, Carrington insider, Sully, identified the Uruguayan international as one of the outgoing players.
The journalist insists that both parties are keen to end their unsuccessful collaboration sooner rather than later.
“Yes, we have received interest for multiple players. Manuel Ugarte wants to leave, and United want to move him on. Ignore the reports that say we don’t want to try to move him on,” wrote the reliable insider.
“Several meetings were held in the past months, and all parties agreed it was best for Ugarte to move on.”
Sully believes Ugarte’s next destination could lie in Turkiye, where he has at least one keen admirer, while a move to Serie A remains possible.
“A few clubs, one in Turkey, enquired about Ugarte back in January, so it remains to be seen if they try to push for him again.
“I know of some early interest from Italy too, but it is all very premature at the moment, so let’s see what happens in the coming weeks.”
Why Man Utd & Ugarte should split
Despite an underwhelming one-year stint at Paris Saint-Germain, Man Utd still opted to pay £50 million to secure Ugarte’s services in the summer of 2024.
The 25-year-old initially played under Erik ten Hag, but was then unexpectedly reunited with Ruben Amorim, who had overseen his development at Sporting CP. However, the Portuguese boss was surprised by the midfielder’s regressed form, so he decided to drop him to the bench.

When Michael Carrick was appointed following Amorim’s sacking in January, Kobbie Mainoo was reinstated as a starter, but nothing changed for Ugarte, who remained a backup option.
So after delivering unconvincing displays under three different head coaches, the Uruguayan international needs to leave in the hopes of reviving his fading career, while United must offload him to raise some transfer funds and make room for new arrivals.
While Sully didn’t mention any names, Galatasaray are believed to be the frontrunners in the race for the MUFC wantaway.
