Ederson receiving a late call-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad means Manchester United will now have to delay their finalisation of his transfer.
The midfielder’s projected switch to Old Trafford was officially green-lit last week after Atalanta approved United’s £39 million (£35m + £4m in add-ons) proposal.

Originally, Ederson had been omitted from the Canarinho’s final squad for the tournament, but an injury to Wesley paved the way for his inclusion a week before their opening fixture.
The five-time world champions take on Morocco this Saturday in an 11pm kick-off, where Casemiro and Matheus Cunha are also poised to feature.
Hailed as a ‘natural’ Casemiro replacement, Ederson will have the opportunity to add to his three caps as well as gain some valuable insight from the veteran he’s succeeding, and his soon-to-be club teammate, Cunha.
When might Ederson complete his United move?
Of course, it does mean that his United move has been put on hold for the time being.

Unlike in the England camp, where Thomas Tuchel announced that any medicals for players can be completed by the Three Lions staff, Manchester Evening News journalist Tyrone Marshall believes it’s more likely the 26-year-old officially signs when Brazil’s World Cup campaign is over.

It’s not entirely ruled out that it can be completed during his time in the host countries, but he and the CBF would have to approve it.
In the meantime, INEOS chiefs will be working on potentially two more midfield additions when the window opens.
It’s common knowledge that their first choice is Elliot Anderson, although he is said to be leaning towards Manchester City – even in the aftermath of Pep Guardiola’s exit.
