Marcus Rashford is assessing his transfer options after Barcelona opted against activating his £26 million buy clause.
The option has now expired, meaning new terms would have to be negotiated between Manchester United and Barcelona if he were to stay at Camp Nou beyond the summer.

Yet, as things stand, that’s looking increasingly unlikely.
The Blaugrana are open to taking Rashford on another season-long loan throughout 2026/2027, having essentially used up all their funds for an attacker by agreeing a £70m deal for Anthony Gordon.
However, United are completely closed off to that prospect, as they want to cash in while the 28-year-old’s value is high – or perhaps even keep him at Carrington.

Indeed, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Rashford revives his Red Devils career next term.
His contract runs until 2028, and the main reason he left in the first place was because of a fallout with then-manager Ruben Amorim, who was relieved of his duties in January.
Reports have even suggested that Michael Carrick has held direct talks with Rashford to make it clear that he would be welcomed back into the squad with no hard feelings.

Rashford: The state of play
The attacker, whose No.10 shirt has since been inherited by Matheus Cunha, will have to wait until his World Cup duties have concluded to hold any concrete negotiations with his suitors.
His contract also contains a £40m release clause for any club except Liverpool and Manchester City, which may be of interest to Bayern Munich.

Vincent Kompany’s side have been linked with Rashford after missing out on Gordon themselves, but he would have to take a pay cut on his exorbitant £325,000-a-week wages.
