Manchester United are reportedly prepared to snatch the services of Aurelien Tchouameni should the opportunity present itself.
After striking a deal for Atalanta’s Ederson, the Red Devils continue to search the market for another midfielder or two.
Mateus Fernandes might be a priority for the club, but between West Ham’s £80 million asking price and Tottenham’s stern competition, INEOS realise that signing the young Portuguese remains a daunting task. Hence, the club officials continue to monitor the market for alternative opportunities, and Tchouameni remains high on the shortlist.
Man Utd would jump at the opportunity to land Aurelien Tchouameni
Following an unsavoury brawl with his teammate, Federico Valverde, Tchouameni’s days at Real Madrid could be numbered, as many observers believe the two players can no longer coexist at the Spanish capital.
According to Man Utd expert and insider Andy Mitten, the Red Devils would certainly try to seize the opportunity to sign the French international if Los Merengues decide to sell him.
“United have liked him for a long time, as they should, he’s one of the best players in his position in the world,” said Mitten during the latest episode of the Talk of the Devils podcast.
“He’s happy at Real Madrid. Should the situation change, would he like to play for Manchester United? My understanding is yes, he would.”
Furthermore, British football journalist Ben Jacobs insisted that Man Utd would be prepared to make Tchouameni one their top earners.
The transfer market expert, who appeared on the United Stand, explained that Real Madrid could decide to offload the 26-year-old to make room for Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez, who is wanted by Jose Mourinho.
Jacobs insists that personal terms won’t be an issue for Man Utd, as the club are confident they can satisfy the former Monaco star with a lucrative offer.

Why Tchouameni would be the right signing for Man United
Mateus Fernandes might be one of the most exciting up-and-coming midfielders in the Premier League, but he remains a prospect at this stage. Therefore, United risk spending £80 million on a player who might not necessarily justify this hefty figure.
On the other hand, Tchouameni could become available for £60 million, which many would consider a bargain for a star of his status in this inflated market.
The 26-year-old is theoretically just entering his peak years, but already has vast experience at the top level under his belt, whether from his four years in Madrid, which yielded eight trophies, or his 47 caps with the French national team.
More importantly, Tchouameni is considered a natural replacement for Casemiro in the holding-midfielder role, having already succeeded the Brazilian at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2022, whereas Fernandes is primarily a box-to-box midfielder.
