Ruben Amorim has reportedly set his sights on a shock reunion with Mason Mount at AC Milan.
The Portuguese, who was relieved of his Manchester United duties at the beginning of January, was appointed as Milan’s head coach earlier this month.
He will come up against the Red Devils in a pre-season friendly in Wroclaw, Poland on August 15, which is sure to be an interesting clash.

Now, according to Milan Press, Mount is ‘one of the names proposed to Milan’, with Amorim giving his full green light to the potential acquisition.

Although the midfielder’s unrelenting injury problems continued throughout Amorim’s Old Trafford reign, he was one of the manager’s favourite players when he first arrived.
“Mason Mount… I have to tell you I love that kid,” said Amorim back in November 2024, shortly after he succeeded Erik ten Hag.
“You can look in his eyes to see that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me.”
The Chelsea graduate accumulated 37 appearances when Amorim was at the helm and was unavailable for a whopping 40 matches due to fitness problems. What’s more, he was limited to only 16 Premier League starts.
Mount is tied to United until June 2028
While there is an acceptance behind the scenes that his injury woes have meant that Mount has never really been able to get going or prove why he was signed, INEOS are likely open to getting rid of him, should an offer come in.

Agreeing a deal worth £60 million when, at the time, he had just a year remaining on his Chelsea contract was ludicrous enough, and not to mention the fact that he’s rarely played a starting role even in the occasional periods he has been fit.
As a result, he hasn’t even had a look-in in the England setup since joining United in the summer of 2023.
