Manchester United have joined Chelsea in sizing up a move for West Ham talisman and captain Jarrod Bowen.
That’s according to The Guardian, which adds that the Irons are ‘desperate’ to keep hold of the forward this transfer window.
United’s transfer business: The latest
With midfield taking the utmost priority for INEOS this summer, they are only considering potential attacking additions that won’t break the bank.
Crysencio Summerville was among the names being considered, although the 24-year-old would command a more substantial fee than 29-year-old Bowen, especially on the back of a World Cup campaign in which he returned four goal contributions in as many appearances.

United are now confirmed to have missed out on Hammers starlet Mateus Fernandes, who is preparing to undergo his medical with Tottenham Hotspur after they agreed an £85 million deal with West Ham to beat United and Real Madrid in the race.

Bowen would provide United with the top-flight experience that INEOS have been wanting in their signings, with the 22-capped England international spending the last seven years of his career plying his trade in the Premier League.

In that time, he has recorded an impressive 65 goals and 54 assists in 231 appearances, while also doing so across the frontline in a number of positions.

It’s that versatility that will factor into INEOS’ thinking, given how Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have been able to rotate in their positions to accommodate what a particular game needs.
Bowen is contracted to the London Stadium until 2030 and has yet to give any indication of where his future lies in the aftermath of West Ham’s relegation.
