The chances of Marcus Rashford playing for Manchester United again next season are now ‘100% genuine’.
That’s according to MailSport journalist Chris Wheeler (via The United Stand), who adds that the club and player would still rather it didn’t come to that.

It comes after Barcelona opted against activating his £26 million buy option, which expired last month.
Now, for Rashford to return to Camp Nou in any form, new terms would have to be negotiated between the Blaugrana and United.
However, Barcelona would only want to facilitate a deal through a cut-price transfer fee or by taking the forward on loan for another season, with United entirely closed off to both options.

Bayern Munich had established their interest in Rashford before the window officially opened, but he would’ve had to accept a sizeable pay cut on his £325,000-a-week wages.
In addition, they had only been linked with the 28-year-old before they reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven for Ismael Saibari, who’s flourishing at the World Cup with Morocco.

It now leaves Rashford with few options on the table, unless any suitors come in when his England duties have concluded in the coming weeks.
Alas, given he is contracted to United until June 2028, it’s now entirely possible he revives his career with his boyhood club.

After all, the main reason he left in the first place was because of a fallout with then-manager Ruben Amorim, who has since been succeeded by Michael Carrick in the long term.
Rashford returned 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances for the Catalan giants last season, so you can understand why welcoming him back to the squad is a prospect INEOS have opened the door to.
