Manchester United have ignited their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha, albeit it’s still at the very early stages.
Now that Germany have exited the World Cup and Nmecha will be heading home, United can ramp up their efforts to try and persuade him to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Newcastle United are also among the midfielder’s suitors this summer, but only the Red Devils can offer the chance for him to play in the Champions League next term, which is often a deal-breaker for plenty of targets.
Nmecha is said to be eyeing a move to the Premier League, so United may want to act quickly before any other sides enter the mix and perhaps try to offer a more lucrative financial proposal to the player and Dortmund, as was the case with Mateus Fernandes and West Ham/Tottenham Hotspur.
The 25-year-old’s World Cup campaign would’ve undoubtedly caught the eyes of a host of top clubs across Europe, so you’d imagine Dortmund are bracing themselves for an influx of approaches when Nmecha is back on home soil.

In the four appearances he made at the tournament, he returned a goal and two assists, and was comfortably one of Germany’s standout performers before their penalty shootout defeat to Paraguay in the Round of 32.
What one journalist is hearing about United and Nmecha
The Athletic’s Mark Critchley weighed in on United’s search for Fernandes alternatives on the outlet’s official podcast on Wednesday.
He revealed that Alex Scott is certainly a name on INEOS’ list, despite the fact that Bournemouth are entirely closed off to a sale this transfer window.

On Nmecha, who signed for Dortmund from Wolfsburg for £25 million in 2023, the journalist said: “Nmecha is a name that’s been put to me. I know that there’s been contact there from United and enquiries made, so that’s a potential one as well.
“But again, I think the asking price on that [deal] could be quite steep.”
