Manchester United reportedly view Sander Berge (Fulham) and Tyler Adams (Bournemouth) as two low-cost midfield options this summer.
It comes after the Red Devils have missed out on first-choice target Elliot Anderson and, this week, watched Mateus Fernandes join Tottenham Hotspur in an £85 million deal.
United turn to Adams and Berge after Fernandes snub
Anderson’s £116m switch from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City will have plenty of Premier League sides ramping up their valuations of their own players, such as the in-demand Alex Scott at Bournemouth.
However, Adams and Berge pose as more senior and experienced candidates for United to pursue – even if they’re not deemed as exciting to supporters (Manchester Evening News).
Berge, who’s currently representing Norway at the World Cup, has spent the last two years at Craven Cottage following a £25m move from Burnley.

Thanks to his spells with the Clarets, Fulham and Sheffield United, he has racked up a whopping 132 Premier League appearances and 10,214 minutes of action.
Would Adams be a suitable fit at Old Trafford?
As for Adams, he has made 80 top-flight appearances in total, coming through his stints with the Cherries and Leeds United, where he spent only one season before leaving in the aftermath of their relegation at the end of 2022/2o23.
The 27-year-old is also out on international duty, with his native America one of the host countries of the tournament.
They booked their last-16 spot in the early hours of Thursday morning via a 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, during which Adams featured for the full 90 minutes of the clash.
It remains to be seen what kind of fee Bournemouth would demand for the player, who’s tied to the Vitality Stadium until June 2028.

In the meantime, United have already wrapped up a £35m agreement for Atalanta’s Ederson, and remain on the lookout for a forward addition to ease the goalscoring burden on young Benjamin Sesko.
