Manchester United are sizing up how they can facilitate deals for one of Alex Scott or Aurelien Tchouameni.
It comes after the Red Devils have watched two of their priority midfield targets, Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, sign for Manchester City and West Ham, respectively.
United place Scott and Tchouameni atop shortlist
When speaking on the situation on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said: “If you ask me who can be the ideal target for Man United, the two names the club internally considers as fantastic options are Aurelien Tchouameni and Alex Scott.”
Both stars are facing somewhat uncertain situations at their respective clubs.
Bournemouth do not want to sell Scott under any circumstances, and are actively trying to negotiate a new contract that would add a release clause into his terms.
However, their efforts have been to no avail as of yet, and he will be aware of growing interest from Arsenal and United as we head deeper into the transfer window.
Tchouameni: The state of play
As for Tchouameni, he has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu amidst Jose Mourinho overseeing a squad overhaul following back-to-back trophyless seasons.
Real Madrid plan to keep hold of Federico Valverde, leaving both Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga mulling over their futures in the Spanish capital, especially if a new midfielder is signed in the coming weeks.
The 26-year-old Frenchman, who’s currently plying his trade at the World Cup, is contracted to Los Blancos until 2028, meaning he is about to enter the penultimate campaign of his deal.
It’s thought he would command a fee in the region of £70 million, which is much more reasonable for a player of his calibre in comparison to the £85m Tottenham Hotspur have just shelled out for Fernandes.
