Andre Onana will re-join Trabzonspor for the 2026/2027 campaign on loan from Manchester United.
Manchester Evening News journalist Tyrone Marshall confirmed on Thursday evening that the goalkeeper had ‘signed his paperwork’ to become a Trabzonspor player again.

However, there is no buy option or obligation included in the loan terms, meaning United are no closer to making back any of the £44 million they paid for him in 2023.
Onana’s Red Devils contract runs until June 2028, so you’d imagine United would’ve been looking to cash in after he restored his reputation to a considerably higher level over in Turkey.

Yet, Trabzonspor themselves are unlikely to be able to afford an outright deal, and he also hasn’t done enough to warrant any other suitors establishing their interest.
A major bonus for United is that the Super Lig outfit will cover the majority of his wages, which are believed to be in the region of £170,000-a-week again after Michael Carrick’s side qualified for the Champions League.

It remains to be seen what INEOS will do with the 30-year-old this time next year when his loan expires again.

His counterpart, Altay Bayindir, is also expected to be on the move before deadline day, but he will leave in a permanent switch back to his native Turkey.
Besiktas have had their sights set on the out-of-favour ‘keeper since January, when United blocked any prospect of a mid-season departure.
Now that they have the time and allocated funds to sign a more reliable No.2 to play second fiddle to Senne Lammens, Bayindir will be sent on his way with well wishes.
