Manchester United will reportedly launch a sizable offer for Aurelien Tchouameni in their upcoming talks with Real Madrid.
The Red Devils are planning to sign three new midfielders this summer after losing Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte. The Brazilian veteran joined Inter Miami on a free transfer, while the Uruguayan international suffered an ACL tear during the World Cup, which could rule him out of action for almost a year.
The Premier League giants should finalise Ederson’s £39 million transfer from Atalanta in the coming days, but their other two signings remain shrouded in mystery.
Man Utd to open talks with Real Madrid for Aurelien Tchouameni
Man Utd had hopes of buying Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, but he ended up sealing a £116 million move to their crosstown rivals Manchester City.
United even missed out on Mateus Fernandes, as Tottenham Hotspur ended up buying him from West Ham for £85 million.
Hence, MUFC Football Director Jason Wilcox has been forced to pursue other profiles. On Sunday, Chelsea’s Andrey Santos reemerged as a serious target.
But according to AS editor-in-chief Jose Felix Diaz, Man Utd are preparing an onslaught for Tchouameni.
The Madrid-based source reveals that the English giants will send a delegation to the Spanish capital in the coming days to open talks with Los Merengues for the 26-year-old midfielder.
The French international had expressed his desire to stay at the club, but his situation remains uncertain, especially following his unsavoury training-ground brawl with Federico Valverde towards the end of last season.
Diaz confirms that Man Utd are the frontrunners in the race for Tchouameni, and they’re willing to make a ‘big-money’ offer to sway him to Carrington.
Why Tchouameni would be ideal for Man Utd
In recent weeks, some reports indicated that Tchouameni’s asking price is around £60 million. While the figure could increase as France advances further in the World Cup, it will likely remain a fair price considering the values of the Premier League midfielders Man Utd have been chasing.
Moreover, Tchouameni could be the ‘perfect’ candidate to replace Casemiro in the holding-midfielder role based on his playing characteristics. He had already replaced him at Real Madrid in 2022.

The French international is also a much more accomplished profile than the likes of Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba, as he’s been playing at the highest level for several years and has already won the biggest honours at Real Madrid.
At 26, one might argue that Tchouameni has yet to reach his peak, making this an ideal time to acquire his services.
