Fabrizio Romano confirms Manchester United are keen to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid, but they must first resolve two issues.

After missing out on Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, Chelsea’s Andrey Santos resurfaced on the scene on Sunday. But on Monday, reports from Spain and England indicated that Man Utd are ready to accelerate their attempts to buy Tchouameni.
Romano reveals what Man United must do to buy Aurelien Tchouameni
While some reports suggested that Real Madrid are requesting €100 million to offload Tchouameni, Fabrizio Romano didn’t mention any figures, but suggests that the Spanish giants could be forced to sell one or more key midfielders to make way for new arrivals.
The French international could be a natural choice, having taken part in an infamous training-ground brawl with Federico Valverde toward the end of last season.
In the latest video posted on his official YouTube channel, Romano confirms that Man Utd internally consider Tchouameni as the ‘perfect replacement’ for Casemiro. However, he believes that INEOS must overcome two stumbling blocks to reach the finish line.
First, the 26-year-old would have to accept a pay cut, as United don’t plan to match his current salary. According to Capology, the midfielder earns £260k per week in gross wages.
Second, Real Madrid must express their willingness to sell their stalwart. Thus far, Los Merengues have yet to open up to a sale, although Romano hints they could adopt a more lenient stance in the coming days or weeks.
Why Man Utd must go all-in for Tchouameni
Even prior to the latest updates on Tchouameni, many fans and pundits had labelled him the ideal profile to replace Casemiro.
After all, he was the one to inherit the Brazilian’s place in Madrid back in 2022. Hence, it is refreshing to know that Man Utd’s management is also on the same wavelength.
While £85 million is a significant figure, United are unlikely to find a more convenient profile at a more reasonable price this summer, especially following the recent inflation stemming from Anderson’s £116 million transfer to Manchester City.
Therefore, if Man Utd are to be handed half a chance to recruit the former Monaco star this summer, they must put all of their might behind it.
