Manchester United have reportedly made a concrete approach for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who has emerged as one of their main targets.
The Premier League giants are currently searching the market for midfielders, which has been their main priority this summer.
The Red Devils have secured Atalanta’s Ederson, but missed out on their main targets, Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, who ended up joining Manchester City and Tottenham, respectively.
Man Utd trying to lure Aurelien Tchouameni with a tempting offer
After parting ways with Casemiro and losing Manuel Ugarte to injury, Man Utd need another two new midfielders, and at least one of them must be capable of interpreting the No.6 role.
Over the past few days, several sources from England and Spain have reported Man Utd’s serious interest in Tchouameni, including Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic, as the club considers him the perfect profile to inherit Casemiro’s place, having already done so when he signed for Real Madrid in 2022. His price tag is said to be €100 million, or £85 million.
On Tuesday, The Sun’s Samuel Luckhurst dampened the excitement by suggesting that Tchouameni would command a similar weekly salary to Casemiro’s £350k, while also claiming that Jose Mourinho refuses to offload the French international.
Nevertheless, Spanish sources believe that United are refusing to raise the white flag. According to the AS editor-in-chief Jose Felix Diaz, the Red Devils have offered the midfielder a ‘very good’ five-year contract.

Do Man United stand a chance at landing Tchouameni?
Amidst all the conflicting reports, it is difficult to paint a clear picture. However, most sources agree that Tchouameni’s move to Man Utd mostly hinges on Real Madrid’s willingness to sell the player.
Los Merengues’ transfer market got off to a remarkable start, as they have already signed the likes of Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella, and Bernardo Silva.
Hence, several sources believe the Spanish giants will eventually have to sell a few players to make room for new arrivals, especially midfielders, if they intend to pursue the likes of Rodri and Enzo Fernandez.
Tchoumeni was considered a main suspect in this regard, chiefly due to his infamous training-ground brawl with Federico Valverde towards the end of last season, which sent the latter to the hospital. While Jose Mourinho will try to play the role of conciliator, some observers believe the two players can no longer coexist.
In any case, Man Utd must at least try their luck, as they absolutely need an ‘imperial‘ holding midfielder like Tchouameni.
