Sunderland are reportedly ‘doing everything they can’ to block Brian Brobbey from leaving the club this summer.
It comes amid growing outside interest in the forward, with Manchester United one of the latest suitors to add their names to the mix, as per Football Insider.

Brobbey is contracted to the Wearside outfit until June 2030, which will provide some sense of relief for manager Regis Le Bris.
The 24-year-old signed for Sunderland last September in a £21.6 million switch from Ajax, where he had spent the bulk of his youth and senior career.

In the aftermath of his stellar World Cup showings, Sunderland now believe that Brobbey has ‘enhanced his valuation even further’.
He netted an impressive three goals in four appearances on football’s biggest stage, before the Netherlands were knocked out by Morocco on penalties in their Round of 32 clash.

Why United have shortlisted Brobbey
United are scouring the market for a young but proven attacker to add to Michael Carrick’s ranks ahead of their return to the Champions League next season.
In doing so, it would ease the goalscoring burden on young Benjamin Sesko, while also providing some respite to the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. All three players, who arrived at Old Trafford last summer, netted 10 goals each in their maiden Red Devils campaign.
Brobbey was unable to breach the 10-goal mark, but did notch seven goals in 31 games, and played a vital role as the Black Cats secured Europa League qualification in emphatic fashion on the final day of 2025/2026.

Sunderland have proven they can fight back against the division’s ‘big six’ clubs, as they rebuffed an approach from Chelsea for skipper Granit Xhaka, who is now poised to stay put for the foreseeable future.
